Blanche Ann Konieczny

            Blanche A. Konieczny, age 81, of Alpena, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, surrounded by her family.

            On July 26, 1937, Blanche was born to the late Louis and Sophie (Pilarski) Kroll in Posen, Michigan. She married Edmund Konieczny on May 4, 1957, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen by Fr. Steven Kozak. Blanche was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Sodality, as well as the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary.

            Blanche enjoyed cooking for her family, growing her garden, camping with the boys, helping her parents at their farm, and keeping the Rooster cookie jar full. When it crowded over and over, she knew it would soon be time to refill it! She also enjoyed over 25 years of cleaning for Besser Company and Alpena Township.

            Blanche is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ed, and their three sons: Gary (Lisa) Konieczny of Alpena, MI; Pastor Mike (Trish) Konieczny of Cheboygan, MI; and John (Shelly) Konieczny of Tucson, AZ. She also is survived by 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Eleanor (James) Dembney of Fenton, MI; Sally (Donald) Kuznicki of Rogers City, MI; sister-in-law Gertie (Harry) Kroll of Guinn, MI; along with several nieces and nephews.

            Blanche was preceded in death by her daughter Connie Ann, one son, David James, one brother, Harry Kroll, and one nephew, Luke Kroll.

            Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2 pm until 8 pm, with a Parish Prayer Service at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial begins, with Fr. Joe Muszkiewicz officiating.

            Inturnment: Cremation to follow, with cremains interred at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
