David L. Parris, 54, of Alpena passed away January 18, 2022 at Medilodge in Rogers City. David was born to Neil and Elaine (Jacobs) Parris on February 23, 1967 in Big Spring, Texas.
He graduated from Alpena High School and was a self employed wood worker until he became disabled. David loved dogs and music. He could play the drums, flute, piano and guitar. His hair was his pride and he wouldn't let anyone cut his long locks. Many folks knew him as the 'Jesus of Piper Road'. He walked the entire length of the road from Werth Road to US 23 almost daily, making friends along the way.
David leaves behind two sons and their families: Jonathon (Cassie)Parris and Tony (Kasie) Parris, both of Alpena. His father and stepmother Neil and Grace Parris of Florida also survive in addition to thirteen grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Elaine and Charles Helzer and brother John (J.D.) Parris.
A memorial service for David will be held at a later date. His final resting place will be at the family plot in Three Rivers, Michigan. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www. karpushuntercares.com.
