Eugene 'Gene' L. Kelly

Eugene "Gene" L. Kelly, age 86, of Alpena passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 7, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Eugene was born on February 25, 1930, to the late Louis and Gertrude (Kuffell) Kieliszewski in Detroit, Michigan. On May 19, 1951, Gene married Dorothy Johnson in Oscoda. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2002. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Gene was a professional truck driver for Kroger for over 30 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Livonia Moose Lodge, and Teamsters Local 337. Gene was lifelong deer hunter and Pinochle Card player. Gene and his wife enjoyed their time traveling and their casino gambling trips after their retirement.
Eugene is survived by his two children Dale Kelly of Livonia, MI and Paula (John) McLellan of Alpena, MI; his grandchildren Kelly McLellan, Kathy (Carl) Prieur, and Reid (Jennifer) McLellan, 6 great-grandchildren, his sister Diane (Ken) Wahoski of Alpena and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for Memorial visitation on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 3 pm until the 7 pm Memorial Service begins with Rev. Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating followed by Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496.
Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery
