Gloria Joy Moore

July 12, 1949 — May 17, 2022

Gloria Joy Moore, of Lachine, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.

Gloria was born July 12, 1949, to Elwood and Sylvia Seaman in Melbourne, Australia, where her father was a lieutenant in the marines during World War 2.  He moved his family of five to Clarkston, Michigan in late 1950s. Gloria graduated as a legendary basketball star from Clarkston High School and shortly thereafter married Larry Bertrand, the father of her two boys, Terry and Thomas. Gloria and Larry were married for 20 adventurous years. Larry passed away in 1987.

During Gloria and Larry's time together, Gloria became "mom" to their entire neighborhood and beyond. Everything she did revolved around her boys and family, from cub scouts, 4H, baseball, basketball, football, horse shows, deer camp to gardening and church. Gloria was a champion mom.

Known affectionately by her softball teammates as "Goob," Gloria played for many teams, including the Alpena A team.  Everyone respected her legendary left-hand bat and first-base glove.

After Larry passed away, Gloria went to work for Alpena's Cable Vision and moved her now teenage boys to Alpena. In 1990 Gloria met her hero Randall G. Moore, the soul mate she married in 1992.

Gloria's energy and passion for life was like the speed of light. Gloria and Randy began their lives in Lachine on the beautiful Thunder Bay River. Together their love and their families became larger and stronger. Together and with family, they spent time traveling, often to Florida, kayaking, zip lining, and holding many bonfires. Gloria loved hosting friends and family with Christmases and holidays centered around family. Laughter filled their lives.

Together, Randy and Gloria tackled many of Gloria's health setbacks. Her strength, determination, and fight measured by an endless to-do list and love for life.

The family continues her passions: sons Terry Bertrand (Gordon Coy); Thomas Bertrand (Keri); Randall G. Moore II (Amy Debacker) Bridget Moore (Aaron Bodary); and grandchildren Kayla, Kody, Dustyn, and Mikaylee. Gloria Joy Moore was preceded to heaven by her father Elwood and mother Sylvia Seaman, her twin brother Gregory, and brothers Jeff, Johny, and Gary.

Per Gloria's wishes, a celebration of life memorial will replace the traditional funeral service. Our family will announce this memorial service, a celebration and toast to her life well-lived, at a later time. Our family is grateful for everyone's beautiful memories and sincere support. Gloria’s care was entrusted to Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home. Online condolences may be registered at www.karpushuntercares.com
