Helen Y. Carls

            Helen Y. Carls, age 84, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at home.

            On December 8, 1935, Helen was born to the late Morris and Mildred (Lapp) Rondeau in Alpena, Michigan. She married James "Jim" Carls on February 3, 1979, in Roseville, Michigan. She worked as a transcriptionist for Dr. Pilichowski's office retiring in 2018. Helen was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed going to the casino, along with working on her needle point and knitting.

            She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jim and their 7 children: Mary (Darryl) McQuarrie of Alpena, MI; David (Janie) Schultz of Memphis, TN; Karen (Robert) King of Jacksonville, Fl; Jill (Pete) Shiemke of Hubbard Lake, MI; Tami (Jay) Hazel of Galloway, OH; Heidi (Don) King of Batesville, IN; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Her two brothers Gary (Yvonne) Rondeau of Alpena, MI; Dennis (Jane) Rondeau of Essexville, MI; two sisters: Donna Rondeau of Essexville, MI; Sue (Dave) Weber of Alpena, MI; along with several nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by one daughter Kaylynn Shultz

            Arrangements are being handled through the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. Per her wishes she has been taken from the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for cremation and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
