James Wisniewski, age 77, of Whittemore, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Lake View Manor in Tawas City, Michigan.
On June 18, 1942, James was born in Posen, Michigan to the late John and Josephine (Kasubowski) Wisniewski. He married Barbara Partell on February 21, 1986 in Warren, Michigan. James served in the US Army from 1960 until 1963 and served in Germany for 3 years as a Tank Mechanic. He was a Post Commander of the P.L.A.V. Post 165 in Warren, MI. James worked for Chrysler in Detroit, MI for 30 years; retiring in 1994. He was a good and honest man who was proud of his Polish Heritage. James loved to travel and saw most of the United States, Alaska, and Canada. He also enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing with his son and family.
James is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of 33 years; his three beloved children: Donna (Dan) Doan of Lenox, MI; Kevin (Adena Miesel) Wisniewski of Marysville, MI; Denise Winsten of Washington Twp, MI; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; three brothers: John (Marlene) Wisniewski of Alpena, MI; Jerry (Florence) Wisniewski of Hillman, MI; Norman (Patricia) Wisniewski of Rogers City, MI; three sisters: Polly (Larry) Anderson of Alpena, MI; Connie (Larry) Henski of Vanderbilt, MI; Doris (Walter) Kozdron of Posen, MI; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond, Paul "Roger", and David Wisniewski and one sister: Theresa "Tracy" Dziuba.
Family and friends will gather for visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 2 pm until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 10 am until the 11 am Funeral Service begins with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating followed by Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496.
Interment: St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Posen, Michigan
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of James.
