Margaret 'Annie' Bettis

March 19, 1934 — March 23, 2022

Margaret "Annie" Bettis, 88, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Besser Senior Living Community. She was a loving, caring, and compassionate wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend and will be dearly missed.

Annie was born to the late Jesse and Katherine (Cameron) Legate in Wingo, Kentucky. On Aug. 12, 1949 she married the love of her life Howard Bettis in Tate County, Mississippi and they enjoyed every minute of the 65 years they were married until he preceded her in death. There were many things that Annie enjoyed doing but none better than spending time with her family.

She is survived by two children, Felicia (Russell) Holden, and Debbie (David) Welton, two grandchildren, Parker Bettis Holden and Ashley Welton, a great granddaughter, Rosalee Kingsbury, a brother in-law Hollis Easley, and many cousins and other family members. Annie was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband Howard.

Annie has been taken for cremation from Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home with inurnment to take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. Full military honors will be accorded at a later date for Howard.
