Margaret Mary Alexander

August 13, 1929 — May 25, 2022

Margaret mary Alexander, 92, of Bolton, passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2022.

Margaret ws born in Alpena, MI. on August 13, 1929 to the late Henry and Florence (Smigelski) Donajkowski. When Margaret was 4 years old her family moved to Bolton where they owned and operated Donajkowski’s General Store. Margaret helped operate the store and helped raise her siblings.

In 1951 Margaret married Roger Alexander and in 1959 She and Roger returned to Bolton to operate the General Store. They closed the store in 1963 and made it into there family home, where they raised eight children. Before marriage Margaret was a teacher, and then a nurse. During her years as a wife and mother she was also an Avon Lady for 40 years. But she received most of her joy from raising her children and spending time with family.

In later years many people affectionately referred to her as “The Queen of Bolton”, since she was the oldest and longest living member of the town. Margaret corresponded with many friends and relatives around the country. She was known far and wide for her uplifting letters, notes, and cards; and especially her beautiful handwriting. Margaret was preceded in death by her siblings, Harry (Ann), James (Barbara), John (Lorraine), Florence “Edie” (Tony) Samp, and Theresa “Butch” Donajkowski. She was also preceded by her husband, Roger, sons Andrew “The Mayor”, and Peter, son in law Larry LaFleure and grandson Kirby Diamond.

She is survived by her siblings, Chet (Doris) Donajkowski, and sister Kathryn (Lewis) Kunze, along with her children, John (Norma), Matthew (Mildred), Philip, Simon, Charity LaFleure, Felicity, and daughter in law Debbie Alexander, grandchildren, Tim (Sarah) Bailey, Felicia (Jarrad) Thomas, Kyle Alexander, Eli (Erin) Diamond, Zacharey (Kori) Alexander, Mackenzie (Ryan) Stemkowski, Jordan (Emily) Alexander, Sarah (Mike) Diemler, and Andrew LaFleure, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
