Mildred 'Millie' Bertha Sobolewski

            "Millie" Mildred Bertha Sobolewski, age 95, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2019, in Santa Fe, New Mexico; at her daughter's house under the care of Hospice.

            On March 4, 1924, Mildred was born to the late Frederick and Bertha (Jahnke) Dammrose in Alpena, Michigan. She married John "Jack" Lappan in 1951; who preceded her in death in 1968. She later married Anton Sobolewski in 1970; who  preceded her in death in 2017.  Millie was a housewife and enjoyed her family, traveling, golf, entertaining and definitely card playing. She also loved her volunteer time at the Alpena General Hospital in which she was honored with over 35 years of service.

            She is survived by her four children: Cathy M. Bennett of Santa Fe, NM; Mary J. Lappan of Thompsonville, MI; Terri J. Sobolewski of Ossineke, MI; and Timothy J. Sobolewski of Alpena, MI. Her four grandchildren: Jacqueline, Graham, Misty, and Amanda; five great-grandchildren: Hayden, Hayleigh, Emmet, Myleigh, and Maddox.

            Per her wishes, she was taken for cremation. Arrangements are being handled through the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. A private family committal service will be held in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena, Michigan; where Millie will be laid to rest next to her late husband John H. Lappan.
