Norma H Sobeck

October 29, 1930 — March 3, 2024

Alpena

Norma H. Sobeck, 93, of Alpena, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 3, 2024, surrounded by her family at Touch of Country AFC Home in Alpena. She was a kind, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by many. Norma was born on October 29, 1930, to the late Michael and Mary (Montie) Precord in Alpena, Michigan.
On April 27, 1957, she married her soulmate and love of her life Richard Sobeck at St. Bernard Catholic Church. They raised a family together and remained in love for 56 years until Richard preceded her in death in 2013. Norma’s family was everything to her. She not only worked hard as a homemaker, she mastered it. She was a role model for all her children as she taught them how to be kind, caring, loving, nurturing, and very well-rounded independent people. If there was any type of event that her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren were a part of, “Mom”- “Great-Grandma” - “GG” was preparing for it and sitting in the seats in support of it or waiting to hear about it! Norma was a strong advocate of loving and supporting your family. If there was one thing she leaves behind, it is how to be a fantastic “domestic engineer”. If anyone ever needed her, Norma was always there. Norma was a
devoted catholic with a very strong faith. She and her husband were charter members of St. John Catholic Church for many years and now All Saints Catholic Parish, Alpena.
There were many things that Norma enjoyed throughout her life such as cooking, cleaning, canning, gardening, watching mysteries, comedies, reading, and watching and rooting for the Detroit Red Wings. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was what she enjoyed more than anything. She would make sure there was always a “sweet” surprise in every room of the house for the grandchildren and they knew right where it might be waiting for them.
Norma is survived by her four children: Catherine (Charles) Seguin, Mark (Lynda) Sobeck, Garrett (Tammy) Sobeck, and Laurie (Kevin) Mousseau, nine grandchildren: Benjamin (Andrea) Seguin, Erica
(Adam) Senchuk, Ashley Myers, Brad (Jenny) Valley, Justin (Stephanie Piper) Sobeck, Logen (Forrest)
Roznowski, Nicholas (Brittany) Mousseau, Matthew Mousseau, and Anna (Michael Barnhart) Mousseau; fourteen great grandchildren: Jackson Seguin, Abe, Gwen, and Kate Senchuk, Matthew and Samantha Myers, Bray Valley, Bren Valley, Alivia Roznowski, Adeline Agius, Andrew Frank Agius Jr. “AJ”, Arya, Alice, and Evie Barnhart, and Evelyn Mousseau; brothers-in-law: Thomas (Diane) Sobeck, George Glennie,
sister-in-law: Joyce Sobeck; and many nieces and nephews. Norma’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to their “second family”, the staff of Touch of Country AFC home for their ongoing kindnesses, nurturing spirit, and compassionate care for Norma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, all of her 14 siblings: Anthony, Julius, Walter, Victor, and John Precord, Viola Romero, Celia Bellmore, Leonard Precord, Genevieve Lucier, Phillip Precord, Eugene Precord, Lillian Carpenter, Betty Jane Precord, and Ralph Precord; and Uncle Stanley Precord.
Family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10:00 A.M. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Tyler Bischoff as celebrant. Interment will take place immediately after at Holy Cross Cemetery.
