Paul 'Red' S. Suszek

Paul S. "Red" Suszek, age 86, of Alpena, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Medilodge of Cheboygan, Michigan.
On December 25, 1933, Paul was born in Alpena, Michigan to the late Agabitan and Helen (Kaszubowski) Suszek. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. October of 1957, Paul married Leona Romel at St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church in Posen, Michigan with Fr. Kozak officiating. He worked for Ray Minnick Cedar Post Company, later for Earl Dubey Excavating, retiring in 1975, due to ill health. Paul was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on family projects, spending time with his family, designing and building things in his shop, going to camp and enjoying the great outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Leona and their five children: Cynthia (Paul) Huggler of Ossineke, Gordon (Karen) Suszek, Joel (Tina) Suszek, Delmar Suszek all of Alpena; Dale (Barbra) Suszek of Spruce; five grandchildren: Shian and Caleb Huggler, Kasha Lumsden, Joshua Suszek, Miranda Schalk; two step-grandchildren: Stefani Piper and Jeremy Jacobs; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers: David (Gladys) Suszek of Alpena, Richard (Ellen) Suszek of FL; James (Mary) Suszek of Alpena; three sisters: Joanna Filipiak of Rogers City, Banche Jozwiak, Diane (Jim) Blaski both of Alpena; along with several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by one grandson: Kyle Suszek; one granddaughter: Alana Lumsden; two sisters: Irene Wallace and Sally Zdybel.
Arrangements are being handled through the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home.
Family and friends will gather for Memorial visitation at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish on Friday, January 15, 2021, from 2 pm until the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial begins at 3 pm with Fr. Joe Muszkiewicz officiating.
Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to friends’ choice or Paul's family to assist with final expenses.
