Philip J. Dion

            Philip J. Dion, age 65, of Alpena, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at home.

            On March 25, 1954, Philip was born in Flint, Michigan to the late Philip E. and Sylvia (Sochacki) Dion. He served in the United States Navy from 1972- 1976.  Philip worked at Alpena General Hospital as the Central Service Technician retiring on November 1, 2003.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a Eucharistic Minister.  Philip was also a member of the National Rifle Association. 

            He is survived by his son Brian (Christina) Dion of Cedar, MI; one daughter Ashley (Brandon) Ross of Alpena, MI; four grandsons: Preston, Cayden, Harper, and Zane; two brothers: Paul (Joan) Dion of FL; Robert Dion (Vicky) of Alpena, MI; three sisters: Gloria (David) Lupo of Grand Rapids, MI; Patricia (Patrick) Cronk of Hillman, MI; and Mary (David) Nofftz of Traverse City, MI; along with several nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by one brother Richard Dion.

            Per his wishes Philip was taken from the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for cremation. A Grave Side Committal Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery on Monday, October 28, 2019, at 1 pm with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating, followed by Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496 at Holy Cross Cemetery.
