Phyllis J. (Jasman) Corwin, age 87, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Medilodge-Greenview with her daughter Ann and brother Eugene, at her side.
Phyllis was born on February 27, 1934, to the late Gilbert and Bessie (Gohl) Jasman in Alpena, Michigan. She married Robert B. Corwin on August 21, 1954, at St. Anne Catholic Church; he preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage on October 18, 2006. Phyllis devoted her whole life caring for her children. She enjoyed baking cookies for family, reading light-hearted mysteries and gardening. She especially enjoyed seeing her Irises bloom every year. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a woman of deep faith.
She is survived by her nine children: Robert (Julie) Corwin Jr. of Alpena, MI; Bryan (Patricia) Corwin of Cordova, TN; Timothy (Brenda) Corwin; Steven Corwin; Ann (Brendan) Maroney; Randall Corwin; Chris (Tasha) Corwin; Eric Corwin all of Alpena, MI; and Amy (Darin) Rabeau of Rogers City, MI; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Eugene Jasman and Daniel Jasman; two sisters: Diane Gralewicz and Trudy Sulejman; along with several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her daughter: Jean Millard; granddaughter: Jessie; grandson: Russel; one son-in-law Randy Millard; five sisters: Dorothy Ransom, Virginia Gralewicz, Bertha Hall, Audrey Moore, and Shirley Gamache; and three brothers: Harvy Jasman, Orville Jasman and Charles Gilbert Jasman.
The family of Phyllis Corwin would like to extend their gratitude to her caregivers Betty Jean and Laura of LaFave Home Nursing and the staff of Medilodge of Greenview for their loving care and patience. We would also like to thank Hospice of Michigan for their compassion on making mom's remaining time comfortable.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Family Rosary Service beginning at 6:30 pm followed by a Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, June 4, 2021, at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 11:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 12:00 pm with Fr. Joe Muszkiewicz officiating.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Ignatius Catholic School (545 South Third Street; Rogers City, Michigan 49779) or to Hospice of Michigan (145 N. State Avenue; Alpena, Michigan 49707)
