Raymond A Dehring

April 6, 1929 — August 21, 2016

U.S. Veteran     Raymond A. Dehring, age 87, of Alpena passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Tendercare of Alpena. 
     Ray was born on April 6, 1929 to the late Otto and Elizabeth (Kroll) Dehring in Rogers City, Michigan. On May 14, 1955, Ray married Patricia Turske at St. Mary Catholic Church. He served during the Korean War. Earlier in his career he was a firefighter for Alpena Township, and later worked as a union carpenter for Albert Skiba Construction and Crittenden Construction. Ray was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish and their Ushers Club. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing and sitting on his porch at Long Lake listening to the Tiger's ball games and the Polish hour on Sunday mornings.
      He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia, and their four children: Terry (Annie) Dehring of Marquette, Larry (Jo Ann) Dehring, Jere (Jo Anne Smigelski) Dehring, and Kerrie (James) Kamyszek all of Alpena. His 6 grandchildren: Kara (Eric) Kaminski, Angela (Jordan) Geyer, Erik (Andrea Hulsey) Dehring, Julia Dehring, Elise (Tony Gapczynski) Kamyszek, Isabelle Dehring, along with his 4 great-grandchildren: Paige and Eva Kaminski, Maci and Cole Geyer, plus several nieces and nephews.
      Ray is preceded in death by his brother Julius, and his four sisters: Alice, Eleanor, Helen and Dolores.
      Family and friends will gather for visitation on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2pm until 8pm. Where the Knights of Columbus Color Guard will have an Honor Guard from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. and a joint K of C and parish prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a Third Degree presentation of the Mass, and a Fourth Degree Chalice Presentation. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial begins with Rev. Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating with Full Military Honors accorded by V.F.W. post 2496 following at Holy Cross Cemetery.
      Memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan, St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish, or All Saints School
