Richard O. Frantz

            Richard O. Frantz, age 82, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 12,2018, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena.

            On June 1, 1936, Richard was born to the late Wesley and Frances (Owens) Frantz in Alpena, Michigan. Richard served in the United States Army. He married Donna Suszek on June 4, 1988, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. After 21 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on July 7, 2009. Richard worked for National Gypsum for 32 years retiring in 1986. He was a former member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed spending his time camping, fishing, and playing hockey in his youth.

            He is survived by his six children: John (Kari) Frantz and Jacqui Duffy both of Greensboro, NC; JoAnne (Scott) Plowman of Alpena, MI; Jim (Tina) Frantz of Greensboro, NC; Janie (Jeremy) Scheske of Presque Isle, MI; Jeff Frantz of Alpena, MI; and 10 grandchildren: Nathan Frantz, Colby Plowman, Brittany, Kelsie, and Allyson Frantz, Patricia and Emma Scheske, Paige, Kayli, and Allyssa Frantz; and one great-granddaughter: Octavia.

            Richard was preceded in death by one sister Diane (Frantz) Konwinski.

            Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, from 12 noon until the Funeral Service begins at 2 pm with Rev. Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating. Followed by Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496.

            Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
