Rita M. Makowski

Rita M. Makowski, age 77, of Alpena passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Midland.
Rita was born on May 30, 1939, in Rogers City, Michigan to Jack and Genevieve (Markey) Robarge. Rita married Donald V. Makowski on January 17, 1959, in Rogers City, Michigan. They were married for 54 years before he preceded her in death on April 14, 2013. Rita was a manager for Hidden Brook Apartments for 10 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ossineke Eagles card players, several Euchre and Spitzer clubs.
She is survived by her 7 children: Yvonne (Terry) Wagner of Northumberland, PA; Pamela LeVeck of Alpena, MI; Donald II (Sherri) Makowski of Gladstone, MI; Tony (Judy) Makowski of Alpena, MI; David (Hye) Makowski of Tucson, AZ; Tim (Juli) Makowski of South Lynn, MI; and Mary (Paul) Duncan of Shelby Twp, MI. Her 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Her brother John Robarge of Alpena, MI; her two sisters Bonnie (Edward) Derry of Rogers City, MI; Sandra (William) McCall of Walled Lake, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
Rita was preceded in death by her grandson Samuel Peterson, her mother Geneive Wolgast, a brother Richard Robarge, and her step-father Herman Wolgast.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 11 am until the Memorial Service begins at 12 noon with Rev. Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.
Inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery in Rogers City, Michigan
In memory of Rita memorials may be made to the Huron Humane Society.
