Roger Jacob Pelleran

Roger Jacob Pelleran, age 76, of Alpena passed away peacefully at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena surrounded by his family. He passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016, as a result of complications from a heart attack and cancer.
Roger was born on April 14, 1940, in Alpena, Michigan to the late Arthur and Wilma (Thompson) Pelleran. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1958. On June 16, 1962, he married Carole McKay at St. Anne Catholic Church with Msgr. William Simon officiating. Roger was the owner/operator of Ripley Fruit Market for over 50 years until his hospitalization 10 days prior to his passing . Throughout his career he always preferred the pencil and paper method of totaling purchases over modern technology. He enjoyed a good card game with friends and watching sports on television. He also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Carole, and their four children: Polly (Dan) Hunter, Penny (Tom) Jones, Paul Pelleran and Perry Pelleran all of Alpena, MI. He is also survived by his two grandchildren: Nicholas and Jacob Jones, three step-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, his brother Gary (Linda) Pelleran of Arizona, his brother-in-law Charles Burns of Texas, several nieces and nephews, and his long time employees and friends Albert (Zuck) Eller and Kevin Lancewicz.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter Prudy Pelleran, grandson Randy Mousseau, his two brothers Arnold, Arthur Jr. and one sister Dolores Burns.
Family and friends will gather at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for visitation on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, from 2 pm until the 7 pm Funeral Service begins with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home.
Internment: Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Caring Place, N.E. MI Community Mental Health or NEMROC.
