Sally Delores Zolnierek

Sally Delores Zolnierek, age 98, of Alpena, passed away peacefully at Tendercare Alpena on Sunday, August 28, 2016.
Sally was born on June 6, 1918, to the late Frank and Catherine (Gabrysiak) Milostan in Alpena, Michigan. She married Harry Zolnierek on May 17, 1941, at St. Mary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1976. She was originally employed at the Garment Factory and later employed by the Sears Department Store for 22 years before her retirement in 1981. Sally was a charter member of St. John the Baptist Church, St. John's Alter Society and Choir, St. Mary's Rosary Society Group #11, and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Sally is survived by her two children and their spouses Diane (Earl) Phillips of Gastonia, NC; Jim (Donna) Zolnierek of Alpena, MI. Her son-in-law Patrick Idalski; loving grandchildren: Derek, Brent, and Kurt Idalski, Jason Phillips, Kristen Metzke, and Ryan Zolnierek, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last survivor of six siblings, and was preceded in death by four brothers; Otto, Edward, Harry, and Chester "Chet" and her sister Ida LeMieux. Sally was also preceded by her loving daughter and her part time caregiver Jeanette Idalski.
Family and Friends will gather for visitation on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 4 pm until 8 pm with a Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 am until the 11 am with a Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating.
