Wilbur G. Bleau, age 88, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena.
On September 8, 1931, Wilbur was born to the late Joseph R. and Mable (Johnson) Bleau in Alpena, Michigan. Wilbur served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Betty M. Arlt on May 12, 1956, at St. Anne Catholic Church with Msgr. Simon officiating. Wilbur worked at National Gypsum retiring after 36 years. He is a member of St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2496.
Wilbur is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty and their seven children: Ruth Ann (Dan) Belanger of Alpena, MI; Carol Tessmer of Alpena, MI; Randy Frank of Presque Isle, MI; Jenny (Jerry) Tessmer, Judy (Dale) Putkamer, Wilbur Jr. Bleau, Raymond (Tona) Bleau all of Alpena, MI; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Joseph J. (Laura) Bleau of Alpena, MI; David (Tina) Bleau of Alpena, MI; six sisters: Willieoma Roznowski of Alpena, MI; Joan Burns of Clio, MI; Margaret (Alphonse) Kamyszek of Alpena, MI; Catherine Houghton of Canada; Barbara Agius of GA; and Linda (Robert) Metz of PA; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Mark Bleau and infant brother John Bleau; four sisters: Ellen Pahlkotter, Marie Tiers, Mary Shields and infant sister Susan Bleau.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2 pm until 8pm, with Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496 beginning at 4 pm and Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, January 27, 2020, at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 11am until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 12 pm with Fr. Scott Lawler officiating.
